The TOS-1 is one of the stranger vehicles, the idea behind this vehicle was to take a preexisting tank and fit the Heavy Flame Thrower System to it, the tank chosen was the t-72 Ural.   

The idea of a heavy short-range MLRS to launch rockets equipped with incendiary and thermobaric warheads was revolutionary for the time.

Although not the most used tank it was extremely effective at destroying fortified positions and vehicles in the open.
